Spring is coming! The wind is blowing! :-) The snow is starting to melt off a little bit. I think it's usually all gone by the beginning of May. Though once we did get snow on Ellie birthday (May 3rd). March is very unpredictable, who knows we could get a blizzard tomorrow, it's unlikely, but nobody would be too surprised.
Sara Edith was born on the 18'th! She's so cute! :-)
We've been here a little over a week. I'm loving it! Yes even the wind. :-) Because here the wind blows a LOT so the best thing I can do is, 'learn to love it'. :-) It does make going for a walk a bit challenging, but hey, it makes you appreciated the house! Yesterday Ellie, Zeke and I went for a two mile walk. It was about 20 F, the wind was blowing, but the sun was shining. So we wore face scarves, but pretty much didn't need gloves. :-) I have a bruised jaw from the cold. A couple of days ago Hannah and I went for a walk and my face started getting stiff and losing it's feeling. Not frostbite yet but it was starting. So of course I started rubbing it hard so as to get the blood working again. :-) As I said/shouted the other day to Ellie when we were walking into the wind, “The joys of walking on the prairie in the winter!” “Yup!” she replied. :-) It is fun, in a way. It would be even funner if we were riding horses. But we'd have to walk a long ways to get our horses, and then another long ways to get our saddles if we didn't want to ride bareback. I can't wait until we get on a farm!
The other day Ellie and I practiced music (fiddle and guitar) together. It was fun. We kinda got out of it for a while there, so some of the tunes were a bit jerky, but for the most part we did pretty good, if I might say so myself. :-) One tune we love to play is Black Berry Blossom. Ellie will play her version while I play back up, then I take the lead. I'm actually getting a little faster on it. :-) We also like to play Big Sandy River on the mandolin and guitar, as a duet. Music is so fun! :-) Well, until I get one of those days when 'nothing will work'. Then I pretty much have to put my guitar away for the day. Or else I get frustrated and then get discouraged and don't play for a week or so. Which isn't good either, so I figure that missing one day is better than getting frustrated and discouraged. :-) I do notice that I pretty much have to practice everyday or I have to really work hard to get every note right. I am looking forward to August this year! :-D Hopefully we can go to fiddle camp!
I finished my English book a couple of days ago! Towards the end they had assignments for me to learn to write letters. Mom told me that I didn't have to it as I pretty much know how to write letters. :-) I have about two and a half more school books to go through and I have to get them done by mid-May. It'll be different to not have school next year. I am looking forward to it though.
Dad and Jesse are hoping to go out to AB and pick up the horses sometime soon. They were going to go out on the 25th , but when Dad called 'Highway Hotline', this is what he heard, “Ice covered roads. Snow drifting. Zero visibility. Travel not advised.” So they decided to wait. Hauling seven horses on roads like that wouldn't be fun! When we do get them over here, we're planning on boarding them at a friend's place near Yorkton.
We were looking at land in the Jedborgh, Parkerview area. Jedborgh has two big PFRA community pastures nearby so that cuts down on a lot of grain/spraying in the area. A really big plus!
I guess that's all for now.
G'day,
Lydia

We got here!
Hi all!
I'm writing this on the 17'th of March, and hopefully I'll be able to put in on the blog soon.
We are finally moved and are settling down here in the small population of Waldron! We doubled the numbers when we moved here, if that tells you anything about the size. And I'm not exaggerating!
Our move went pretty smooth other than some problems with the U-Haul truck. (check out www.thepanhandleroughriders.blogspot.com) But we are here safe and sound. We ended up not renting from our friends, as the house has too much mold. Which we are allergic to. So we found a house in Waldron, which is about 15 minutes from Melville. We just got a phone number and address, I've got the address memorized but will have to ask what the phone # is. :-)
P.O. Box 47
Waldron, SK
S0A 4K0
(306) 728-5638
Call if you want, I don't know how much internet time I'll get, (we have to go into Melville or Yorkton for it) so it's pretty much snail mail, or the phone. And yes I do think I'll be brave enough to talk on the phone. In fact I'm seriously thinking about calling our good friend, Ray, to set up a time for him to come and visit us. :-) If I'm brave enough for that I can prolly stand to answer the phone and talk to my friends from all around! :-) I will look forward to hearing from you either way! You're also free to email me, guitarlyddy@gmail.com and I'll reply when I can. :-)
It has been very warm here, warming up to above freezing in the day but freezing in the night. Perfect maple syruping weather! :-) One thing I love to do in the early spring is to make maple syrup, and when it freezes at night and then warms up during the day it's the right weather! But we're in town right now so we can't really do it. Oh well, hopefully next spring!
We have to get the horses out here from Alberta soon, as our friends that are boarding them for us are going to be gone, but first Mom has to have the baby. And that should happen anytime now! She is having light contractions, so tonight or tomorrow I should be able to meet my youngest sibling!
I'll probably be able to write about him/her before we get to town. :-) So please take it as it comes. :-)
Our house is small here but we do fit and are having a good time! :-) And we aren't sleeping out side, which is very nice! I think that would get pretty cold! Our bunk beds are coming in very handy. Where ever one fits, there's two kids! J/K! The most in one room is four, and that's Hannah, Martha, Cilla, and I.
Mom just told me that all the kids over eighteen have to call in and tell Health Canada about the change of address. Am I ever glad that I'm just going to be 17, this year! Haha! No phone calls to Health Canada for me! :-) I don't feel one bit sorry for Ellie either, she's been awful ornery to me lately, shooting me with rubber bands and all. :-)

A nice long post!
Well we got back from Manitoba and Saskatchewan yesterday at about 11:00 p.m. We had a GREAT time! Here's bit of a over view of what we did!
We headed out from Bonners Ferry at about 10:30 a.m., we spent the night with our friends (Sorgards) in Alberta. The next morning we left their place at 6:50 a.m., it was -15 C, coming from about 0 C in BF, we got to shivering!
We got to the Plett's place at 9:00 p.m. (MB time). The next morning we met most of the kids, Sheldon (23), Karlen (15), Trehniss (13), Melody (11), Dallas (9), and Marlena, better known as Marlee (6). After breakfast we drove around with Tim (Mr.) looking for a rental.
The next day we met one more of the kids, Galen (17) had come back from a job. Dad went and drove around again, Ellie and I stayed at Plett's. It was kinda fun! That night some people stopped in for the night, we got some good games in that night!
Ellie and I went to school with the kids (Karlen on down) on the 27'th. I have never been in a school when they were teaching school. LOL! So it was a new experience for me! And also for Ellie! Dad and Sheldon came and picked us up before lunch time so we could get back to the house in time for lunch. Then Dad, Ellie, and I went and looked at a place that was forsale. It looked really rough. After that we went over and started unloading the stock trailer. Sheldon, Karlen, and Trehnis showed up and helped. Then we rushed back to Plett's place for supper and then rushed, and I mean really RUSHED, off to Mcgregor to sing at an old folks home. From the Plett household there was five of us, Sheldon, Galen, Karlen, Ellie, and I. We were about twenty minutes late in starting out, but Sheldon made up for it by driving at 130 KMPH (speed limit was 100 KMPH). Most of the time Ellie and I were sitting very tense because half the time Sheldon was looking over Galen's shoulder picking out songs to sing! But we did get there in one piece, and ONLY 10 minutes late! After singing (which lasted about half and hour) we shook hands with the residents there (I think there was 12) and then we went out and talked for a little bit. A very LITTLE bit! It was -24 C, and nobody had coats on! When we all got in the truck and were heading home I asked, "Is everybody shaking?!", and Karlen replied, "The whole truck is shaking!"
Sheldon kept it down to 100 KMPH on the way home, and we talked quite abit more. Once Sheldon asked if the moon and 'that star' were always that close together. we didn't think it was but then Galen said, "I have an explaination! It's kinda a scientific explaination... You're headlights are reflecting off the moon and making it look like there's a star there!"
"Ha, ha, ha. Very funny Galen!" said Karlen.
That night we moved over to Dave and Mary Klassen's place as Plett's were getting company and needed the bedroom space. Klassen's have 3 kids, RoseAnn (5), Gracelyn (3), and Jefferey (5 mo.). We stayed with thdem the rest of our time in MB.
The 30'th was pretty, well I won't say boring, but nothing eventful happened. On the 1'st of March we went to church with them. Then we went to lunch at Frank Plett's (very distant relative of Tim's) and then had supper at Dave Plett's (Frank's parents). That was fun!
On the 2'nd Mary's sister came over and we went skating. Then after lunch we made about 150 donuts! Fun! Dad was gone looking a land. The next day Klassen's went to town for a doctors appoinpment, for Mary. So we went and looked at a house that was for rent.
Dad decided that he didn't want to move to MB, as of hearing some of the regulations they have for building and veichles, so on the 3'rd we headed down to SK and after driving around a bit we showed up on our good friends, Ed and Dolores Pilipow, doorstep! They were surprised but glad we showed up.
On the 5'th Dad called around a bit and finally found a place for us to stay. We are going to be staying at a different friends' place in the extra house. Dave and Bev Hudy, helped us out a lot when we moved to Melville 7 years ago! Now it looks like their starting again!
That night we headed down to Plentywood, MT, and stayed the night with the people that trailered our horses on the long ride, Dale and Cindy Anderson. Their kids, Christian and Grace were glad to see us again!
The next morning we headed home! I as very glad when we got here!
Today, Dad, Mom, Jesse, Martha, and Zeke are taking the horses up to Alberta, where they'll be boarded at the Sorgard's place.
It's been busy, and is only going to get busyier!
