It's warming up!

December 11th
It's been cold here! The last few days have been around -25 to -33 C. A couple of days ago Ellie, I, Jesse, and Martha were riding for three hours. We all got a bit of frostbite and decided to save anymore longer rides until spring time. :-) I was riding Robin, he did really good for it being his 5th ride. He doesn't know to watch his path for holes and trees so when we would get to cantering it would get pretty interesting. LOL! Ellie was telling Mum about our ride and I heard her say, “ We're riding along and then behind me I hear a thunk, and then Lydia says, 'Robin! That was a tree!'” He had slammed his leg right into it.
On the 9th us four oldest girls went and sang/played for ½ an hour at the hospice in Preecville. It went well. They really liked it when the younger kids came up and sang some kid songs with the hand motions. :-) The kids are always a hit! :-)
Last night Peter W called and told us that Gabby is in the hospital, she had surgery and a couple of things removed. She needs prayers for healing, and that God would draw the whole family closer to Him through this ordeal. Pray for the boys too, we aren't sure if they are saved or not, so they need our prayers as well.
Thank you for praying! Take your burdens to the Lord, and leave them there. :-)

People talk of the times when training horses isn't fun anymore, it's work, but you still need to stick to it and get through it. I wonder if they weren't just talking about when the horse is not responding but also when it's -35* C and the wind is blowing. Oh man, it's so cold! Even when I was in a three sided shed, out of the wind. I didn't ride Robin because he was being jumpy and crazy and I figured that today would probably be the day that he would go to bucking, and I have heard that things (like bones) break really easy in this cold of weather, (I've never broken a bone, and I'm not too eager to 'break' that record), besides, I just didn't feel like riding when I was that cold. :-) LOL! Are you confused by now?! J/K!
Youth last night went really well. We played a bit of street hockey, some four square ball game, and then had a lunch a the lesson on forgiveness. It was a good lesson. :-)

G'day to ya'll! Try to keep warm! :-) ~Lydia~

December 14th
I'm not really looking forward to going out and training Robin today. :-( It's so cold out there! But if I ever plan to get 30 days on him then I guess I'll have to put up with the cold weather. Wendy called yesterday to see how he's coming along and to tell me about the four new horses she got. :-) I love hearing about new horses as much as I like bragging about them. LOL! Any other horse owners out there would probably say the same thing. :-) She was telling me about this black and white weanling paint filly that she got that is going to turn out huge, and I'm thinking about how different our likes of horses are. She loves big huge horses, and I'm looking into the small wirey Akhal-Teke and Marwari horses. I also would like to try out the Andalusian horses which are built pretty big, but that's about the only breed of horses that I like that are big. I don't think everybody needs like the type of horses that I like but it's funny how many different 'tastes' people have, I guess that's why we have so many different breeds of horses, cows, dogs, etc. :-) I may be slightly odd in my tastes anyways, the Akhal-Teke and Marwari horses are both built rather odd, ( I like them for their endurance), and not just odd in my tastes for horses, I like Tarentaise cows (French milk cow), and Jack Russell Terrier and Basenji dogs. Don't ask me why I like these breeds, I just do. :-)
Sunday morning we couldn't get our van started (-36* C), so we weren't able to go to church. But we were able to have Steppan's over for lunch. :-) After lunch, we kids were getting bored so we started doing accrostics on the chalk board. After that we had carmel corn and then decided to play 'spoons'. That was fun! Right when Brad went out to start the car we started to play it elimating the people who didn't get a spoon. Instantly we all got really serious. It was too funny! Ellie ended up winning. :-) During the game to spice things up we started to play backwards, and when somebody would get four cards of a one number they would have to call out, “Snoops!”, then of course everybody dives for a spoon. :-)
I guess I should go and brave the cold and work with Robin. :-) ~Lydia~

December 17th
Well I started part of my dream yesterday! I bought a Tarentaise heifer. She is to calve out next spring for the first time. I'll have to try to take a picture of her and post it sometime, I'll probably put one or two on facebook, so if I don't get one on here then check out my pictures on fb cause there might be one on there. :-) Dad got three Dexter heifers from the same person as well.

December 19th
I think I got called away for something when I was writing the last post. :-) I decided to name my heifer 'Caresse' (Saressa). It's a french name so I thought that it would be fitting. :-) It warmed up yesterday to around -17* C, it was really nice! :-) Today has been overcast and then it started snowing while I was out riding Robin. But it was still around -15*C, so it was pleasant to be out.
Singingly yours~Lyddy~

Hunting!

December 7th
Yesterday our house was FULL! We invited the whole Wolfmueller family over for dinner and then Eugene showed up right in time to eat with us. After lunch we went hunting. While pushing the bush about 6 does and a nice looking buck came right acrossed my path. I was really kicking myself for not bringing my camera. When we were all heading in we saw a doe grazing in the alfalfa field, Sebastien dropped her where she stood with a neck shot. :-) Peter gutted it, and then we went in for a cup of coffee. Or maybe a couple of cups. :-) After that they headed home, but Eugene stayed until around 11:20 p.m. During that time Peter called and told us that we needed to pick up the deer from Endeavour and butcher it. Ben and Adam were planning to stay in Endeavour for another day, and possibly come hunting with us again, but they had a change of plans and decided to go back to Regina last night. So we get the deer. :-) We still have yet to pick it up. But I'm assuming that we'll be cutting it up tomorrow. :-)
Today I worked with Robin. I rode him at a walk, trot, and canter, and after unsaddling him, I worked him on trailer loading. He was NOT going to go into the trailer with me standing outside of it and sending him in. But after about half an hour of circles and changing directions by the trailer he finally had a change of mindset and decided that maybe listening to me wasn't too bad after all. Because I sure made it hard on him when he didn't listen. I did get him to go in several times with me just sending him. It was nice to make a new jump in our training. :-)
Now I believe it's time to make supper, so g'day! ~Lyddy~

Some pictures

Here are a few pictures. One from a couple of months ago and the other taken on the last day of moose season up at Twin lakes. Beautiful area! Enjoy!

New horse to break. :-)

December 1st
The year is almost gone! It's amazing how fast time flies! In this year I have made 'TONNES' (haha) of new friends, moved three times, trained a couple horses, gone hunting for the first time, gone to youth activities for the first time, learned how to play guitar better, and surprisingly I have also managed to sing for a small crowd without getting nervous at all! :-) That's a accomplishment! LOL! Most importantly though, the Lord has been drawing me closer and closer to Him! That truly is exciting!
Yesterday we only saw a cow and calf moose, no bulls. So until next year.... :-)
I realised I haven't been doing the 'CD of the month'. :-P I can't remember exactly how I did it last time, but I'll do what I can. :-) So for this month.....
CD: Dream On
Producer: Ernie Haase and Signature Sound
Style: Southern Gospel

What I like about it: I love Sig' Sound's voices so that makes it really easy to like their cds. :-) They know the power that they sing about, and that puts life into their music. I love listening to them and hearing the training they put into their voices come out in beautiful harmonies. Another thing is that they aren't stuck in slow music or fast music, they can do both and equally well. You have to listen to it to appreciate it, I guess. :-)

What some other people might not like about it: The first thing you would here in the Babtist world is there's too much beat to their music. So if you don't like anything other than hymns and you don't like drums then stay away form this cd.

Cost: $20 if you pick it up from Wal-mart in Canada. :-) I think if you order it direct it is around the same price.

Where can you order a copy: From Signature Sound (www.erniesigsound.com) them selves. :-) Or you can get it from Wal-mart. :-)

Where can you hear a sample: On youtube.com just search Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. There's lots of clips off their dvds. BTW, you can also get Dream On on dvd. It's really good as well. :-)

I hope you enjoy learing about some of my favourite musicians and singers. :-)

G'day to ya'll, and welcome to December! :-) ~Lydia~

I waslistening to one of EHSS' songs called, “Had It Not Been”, I found it to be very thought provoking.
Here's the words, tell me what you think. :-) Honestly too, I don't mind if someone finds problems with my veiws, the only thing I have that is set in concrete is that I'm a Christian.

Just suppose God searched through heaven, and couldn't find, one willing to be, the supreme sacrifice, that was needed. That could buy, eternal life for even me.
Chorus
Had it not been, for a place called mount calvarey. Had it not been for the old rugged cross. Had it not been for a man called Jesus. Then forever my soul be lost.

And I'm so glad he was willing to drink his bitter cup. Although he prayed, “Father let it pass from me.” And I'm so glad that he didn't call all the angels. From these hands tore the nails that torment me.
Chorus

I just find the song so true. It speaks of everything Jesus did for me and everybody else in the world. :-) Praise the Lord that He was willing to go!

It was around -20 C, snowing and the wind was blowing, not exactly the most desireable riding weather. But Hannah, Ellie, Martha, and I were riding. We had ridden over to the neighbours (Millers), getting there around noon, to help round up and work cows. We worked for four hours putting around 60 cows through the sqeeze chute, giving each one a shot and pouring Ivemec on their backs. Running the cows through the sqeeze was fun, Roy and Willfred (another neighbour) ran the cows up the alley, I ran the sqeeze, Ellie gave the shots, Hannah poured the Ivemec on, and Martha took down the tag numbers. After a couple of cows we got it going in a pretty good system. :-) A few cows did manage to get through the chute at different times though. :-) Oops!
The ride home was cold but interesting. I think I only got a touch of frostbite on one side of my face. We were all making sure we rubbed our faces every-so-often so that we didn't freeze. :-) We've all had fristbite at some time or another when in Melville, so we know how painful it is. Makes you more careful not to get it again. :-)
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone! Because I know He holds the future. And life is worth the living because He lives! That song is sooo good! :-)

December 5th
Yesterday I 'forked' Robin and got a walk and a trot out of him. I was getting cold and the pen that he's in isn't the best for riding in so I didn't canter him. I guess that means that I need to take him out today and ride him. I'm a bit nervous about cantering him as that's the easiest gait for them to buck at, but he hasn't tried bucking at the walk and trot yet either, so I go back an forth. It always seems that a horse has to throw one fit when you first start riding them, whether it's bucking, rearing, won't move, won't stop, or whatever, I'm not really looking forward to it very much, other than to have it past. I would like to get a few miles on Robin before he goes back home, and he seems to be coming along alright. He still doesn't like getting caught but he's not as bad as he was when I first started.
Hannah is gone to help with 'Endeavouring Through Bethlehem'. Dad said that the kids over 18 could help if they wanted, but he didn't really want any of us that are under 18 to go. So if it works out next year maybe I can go and help. :-)
That's all for now, so g'day. :-) ~Lydia~
Back for a minute.... I just got in from riding Robin. Quite a bit of cantering and no bucking! Yeah!!! :-) I don't think he ever thought of bucking, he was just excited to be out of his small pen.
I saw bald eagle while out riding. They are such a majestic bird. Robin was interested in it too. :-)
