February-22nd
Today I went out for a walk in the field. I was following the skidoo trail that we had made around the horse pasture. Just in case I wore ski pants and big snow boots. ;-) It paid off! Some of the trail had been drifted over so I was going through about 6 inches of snow, on the packed trail, if I stepped off I was up past my knees. :-) As I was walking along I looked across our land and again thought about how blessed I am to live in such a beautiful place. I love the prairies! It's so pretty here with the snow on the poplars and the evergreens.
I've been thinking about college. Does anybody have any suggestions on Christian colleges with equine courses? So far I've found one in Oregon, (www.cayonviewequestiancollege.org). I'm still a long ways off from it so it's all just research right now, but I am thinking about it. :-)

Revenge is sweet!
That is, symbolically speaking, of course. :-) Mr. Wolfmueller (aka, Peter) and I have had an on going 'fight' (of sorts), ever since one night when he showed up at youth and during a game of garbage ball, he 'tackled' me. :-) Sounds fairly simple, and it would have been too, if he hadn't of kept bugging me every visit. He takes any excuse (or no excuse), to give me a push. I've been keeping up on it and 'getting him back' pretty much every time (usually with a push). But visit before last when I was getting some cream for his coffee he came over and kicked/bumped me with his foot. It was fairly light but I was in an awkward position (half squatting/kneeling) and nearly fell over. So I 'swore' revenge! I warned him a couple of times, and spent the last couple of weeks figuring out what to do. :-) When Peter, Gabbi, and Adam came down last weekend I had it figured! After 'skidooing' and looking at Dudley (whom Peter calls Buttons ????) everyone came in for coffee. I got it making (our coffee pot died), and then made it clear to Ellie and Martha that this was it. We all struggled to keep strait faces. :-) I got some cream out and started mixing up a cup of coffee for Peter. First thing in the cup, a good teaspoons' worth of salt, then a little cream, and filling the cup up the rest of the way with coffee, I stirred it up good and then went and set it on the table in front of Peter. I went right back to get a cup of coffee for Adam, and then brought cream, honey and a spoons down to the table. Nothing happened for a little while, Adam mixed up his coffee and then passed everything to Peter. I guess Peter's cup was too full so he took a spoonful of coffee..... First his face had a slightly surprised look on it, (his first thought was that the coffee gone bad), and then he right about yelled, “WOW!!!!”. :-) Everybody but Ellie, I, Martha, and Cilla, looked at Peter surprised. “What's wrong with his coffee?” Mom asked me.
“Well.... it's a bit salty!”
What I didn't know is that while I was bringing the 'coffee pot' over, Ellie had added a teaspoon of baking soda. So I guess Peter's coffee was quite 'zingy' as well as salty. :-) I took his cup and after dumping it down the sink I brought the cup back and then poured him another cup of coffee. He fixed that one himself. :-)
Peter still claims he can't remember what I was getting him back for. One thing I do know, Peter's probably going to get me back good. I'm wondering what's it going to be. :-) As long as it doesn't include skidoos or boys, then I'm fine.
So maybe I should say, “Revenge is salty, zingy, and full of laughter”. :-)

Dancing horses and skidoos....
February-13th
It's funny how light footed a 1200 lb horse can dance when he's surrounded by snowmobiles! Means how it's the weekend there was hordes of skidoos (snowmobiles) out today. A very main groomed skidoo trail runs on the road allowance that borders our land, and in order to ride to the main road with Coyote I had to cross the trail. There was about 10 skidoos or so (sorry, I know not all of them were 'Skidoos', but hey I'm not going to name off every brand there? I was too busy trying to calm my mount), parked on the road, we managed to get by them fine. Coyote was jumpy the whole ride. The slightest noise and he would jump and try to bolt. Coming back home there was fewer skidoos parked on the road but Coyote was still extremely jumpy. :-) He was dancing sideways quite a bit while I was talking to one of the people, and was quite glad to be able to hit it at a high paced trot towards home, away from all skidoos! :-) Funny horse!
I'm quite looking forwards to church tomorrow! Peter and Gabi are up from Regina, they have friends with them so we haven't seen them yet. Can't wait until hunting season starts again, then we'll probably see more of them. :-) That's a ways off though, and before it we have music camp in the summer! Now I'm getting excited again! LOL!
Alright it's g'day for now. Lovin' ya'll! ~Lydia~
Tell me your opinion.
February-8th
Calling everybody to answer honestly without thinking about maybe hurting my feelings. I am doing some research on some of the things we believe/don't believe, and would like to get other opinions on them. I'm trying to come to this with no leanings towards either side, I just want to figure out which of these things are Bible suggestions, Bible commandments, or maybe not in the Bible at all (i.e. Personal preference). That being said, here are the subjects.... :-)
Dresses versus pants on women/girls. What is women apparel? How do you feel about women wearing dresses all the time? How 'bout them wearing pants?
Long hair on women. How long is long? How short is short? :-) A common question I know. But honestly When you just see a lady/women walking down the street how short is it when you think that she has short hair? Just a personal wondering thought. :-)
Children. Do you think everybody needs to have as many kids as possible, or should they have as many as they think they can handle? What the Bible say on it?
Girls working out side the home. Is it alright for a girl to work outside the home before she is married?
Dancing. Is all dancing bad? Or is some alright? If some is alright, then what is that some?
Jewelery. Necklaces, bracelets, etc.
Which version is the Bible? Or does it not matter?
So here's a bunch of them. I would like your answers to based on what you believe. :-) Are these Bible commandments, Bible suggestions, or personal preferences? I hope this is clear, I really don't know how else to word it. If you would like to, instead of posting on here, you can email me at, guitarlyddy at gmail dot com .
Thank you. :-)

Dudley!
February-4th
Well we now have 11 animals of the bovine kind on the place! Ernie (E12 or Ernestine), one of the Dexters, had a black bull calf yesterday about noon. The calf isn't named yet. :-) When he was first born, (we had to pull him, and it was a good hard pull.) we brought him into the house to dry him. He got out of his cardboard box and managed to spread sawdust all over the living room. He looked really cute, laying there on the living room floor, listening to Martha playing the piano, and waiting for his colostrum. :-) After he got dry (it took a couple hours), Dad took him down to the barn where he and Jesse had rigged up a heater for the calf. Our only problem now is that Ernie has no colostrum/milk. :-( She is a second time calver and last year her calf died. The owner thought it was from scours, but maybe it died from starvation. The calf had to drink Vanilla's milk this morning. Hopefully he'll be able to survive on it.
Our next cows to calve should be in March. They are our Hereford cross cows, Sally and Dora. It's going to be fun to be milking again. The rest of our Dexter's and Caresse are due in May. Their calves shouldn't have to come in the house. :-)
Having a early calf is like having a false spring. :-) One comes and you so want to have 50 more to calve out, just not in February. I like calving out on the green grass, not on the snow. :-)
Mr. Banga, better known as 'Father Banga', called yesterday. Everything is falling in line for us girls to be teaching music at the boys and girls camp he runs. I'm so excited about doing music for 2 months pretty much solid! We have a whole month of teaching at the kids camp, 6 days of nothing time, a week of music camp, a couple days of nothing time with one day of the John Arcand Fiddle Fest in there, and then another week of music camp. July can't come too soon for me. :-) The more I think about it, the more I practice my guitar, so that I can be better for my teachers. :-)
This summer is going to be a full one that's for sure!
G'day to ya'll! BTW, check out Steve Kaufman's latest cd, 'Acoustic Stomp' (www.flatpik.com). It's great! ~Lydia~
note: The calf is named Dudley. Ernie is starting to give a bit more milk, and we're feeding him with Vanilla's milk as well. :-)
