Riding

I was training Coyote on Wednesday and had Cilla come out and take some pictures.

Mom kinda freaked out about the pants. But so far Dad hasn't said anything... So, ::fingers crossed:: I'm hoping that he doesn't mind me wearing them for riding.

Here I'm trying to get Coyote to yield his shoulder with an indirect rein and he's resisting.

Here he starts giving to the bit and moving his feet.

Now a yield to the knee. Kid watches.

Up in the yard to give the kids rides.

Sara say Hello.

Sara loves the animals! But she especially likes horses!

Ruth gets a ride too!

And Uriah took this picture of Cilla getting a ride.

Thoroughbreds...

I was looking through my pictures and I found this one which I really like!

This is one of the first rides I put on Elzear a Thoroughbred yearling. He was such a sweet heart.
From what I'm hearing from some people from the track in Saskatoon he's still a nice horse and they all like him.  This was taken in 2010 at the John Arcand place near S'toon. Thank you to John for taking the picture and thank you to Murray Hamilton for letting me work with his colt.

Here is Elzear during a workout at the track. Picture by Sara S.

Vaulting.... Horseback style!

I am always interested in anything to do with horses and means how Canyon View College teaches vaulting I decided to look it up. I love watching it! It's like figure skating on the horse's back. Well, that's how I see it. :-)

The gracefulness is incredible! I'm thinking that because I have never been graceful or coordinated, anything that is smooth like that intrigues me.

I enjoyed this video.

Now I need to head off to bed! No work for a few days, but I do want to go and ride Coyote. Hopefully I will get some pictures. :-)

Photo shoot

Today I loaded the little wooden wagon to over flowing with tack and pulled it down to the milking barn. Then, after lugging down a very heavy hay bale, I set up to take pictures. :-) Tell how you think they turned out.

My 'old western' saddle.

I set up my camera on a tin garbage can with rubber boots on top for extra height. :-) 10 second timer and here's some self portraits!

Now It Belongs To You

This is one of my favorite songs! I first heard it on a video tape that we had gotten from 'Grandpa Senft' . The video was a copy of the Fiddlers from James Bay, but this song was on the tape. Beautiful music!

'Grandpa' Arnold Senft was an older man that we adopted into our family when we lived in Melville. He and Grandma Edith lived in town and bought cottage cheese from us. Grandpa did wood carving (mainly horses) and he loved music! He played the fiddle mainly, but had instruments of every kind around the house. He really wanted to get us started in music and lent us the instruments that we were interested in so we could start playing. I guess you could say that we owe anything we have done in music to him and Grandma Edith. Both Grandpa Arnold and Grandma Edith have gone to be with the Lord now but, I still remember them and thank God for putting them in our life. My sister, Sara Edith, is named after Grandma Edith, one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known.

Friends and fiddles

This is a friend of mine from music camp. He has become quite the good fiddler. I'm proud to call him my friend!

Last Sunday we went to a concert in Hudson Bay, SK and enjoyed music from this talented fiddler!

I hope you enjoy this look at some of my favorite music! I'll try and post more some other time. :-)
